Why the launch is postponed
Support payments from fans to creators are the core of Krinio. Krinio was built on Stripe Connect, so that every creator receives Support directly in their own Stripe account.
On 25 September 2026, six days before the planned launch, Stripe closed Krinio's platform account. Stripe placed Krinio in its "Content Creation Platforms" category, one of its restricted business types, and told us the decision is final and will not be reviewed again. Stripe did not say which part of Krinio led to the decision.
Without a payment provider, creators could publish ideas that nobody can support, so we are holding the beta back.
What happens next
On 26 September, the payment provider Mangopay also declined, pointing to the kind of platforms it supports and to Krinio not having an established payment volume yet.
On 28 September we applied to PayPal's payment service for platforms (PayPal Multiparty), which is built for platforms whose users receive payments directly. PayPal's partner team has replied and is reviewing how Krinio works. There is no decision yet. If PayPal approves Krinio as it is designed, we set a new launch date and tell the waitlist first.
If PayPal declines as well, very few providers remain that fit Krinio. Of the providers we have looked at, few can pay individual creators in both Europe and the United States, our largest creator market, from a platform run in Switzerland. We would then look at whether Krinio can work another way without making the experience worse for creators. Any change will be explained here and by email before it happens.
What this means for you
- Your place on the waitlist stays as it is. You do not need to do anything.
- We email confirmed waitlist members as soon as there is a new date or a decision.
- Our guides, free tools and help pages stay available in the meantime.
